PAM is mainly used in sewage treatment plant, food, alcohol, garbage treatment, paper making, beer, chemical industry, medicine, printing and dyeing, sugar making, leather, electroplating, automobile, chemical fiber, slaughtering, wool washing, etc.
For Water Treatment Applications
The application of PAM in water treatment industry mainly includes raw water treatment, sewage treatment and industrial treatment.
In raw water treatment, PAM can be used together with activated carbon to coagulate and clarify suspended particles in living water; in sewage treatment, PAM can be used for sludge dewatering; in industrial processing, it is mainly used as a formula. In the raw water treatment, the organic flocculant PAM is used to replace the inorganic flocculant, and the water purification capacity can be increased by more than 20% even if the sedimentation tank is not modified. Therefore at present, many large and medium-sized cities use PAM as a supplement when water supply is tight or water quality is poor. In sewage treatment, the use of PAM can increase the utilization rate of water reuse cycle.
For Oil Recovery Field
In oil exploitation, it is mainly used in drilling mud materials and improving oil recovery rate. It is widely used in oilfield mining operations such as drilling, completion, cementing, fracturing and enhanced oil recovery, with function of thickening, reduce rate loss and rheology adjustment, gelation and splitting. By injecting polyacrylamide aqueous solution, the oil-water flow rate ratio is improved, and the weight of the crude oil in the produced product is increased.
For Paper-making Field

In the textile industry, PAM is a sizing agent and finishing agent for fabric post-treatment, which can produce a soft, anti-wrinkle and mold-resistant protective layer. By utilizing its strong hygroscopicity, it can reduce the breaking rate when spinning the spun yarn; PAM acts as a post-treatment agent to prevent static electricity and flame retardant of the fabric; when used as a printing and dyeing auxiliary, the product has high adhesion fastness and high vividness. It can also be used as a non-silicon polymer stabilizer for bleaching; in addition, it can also be used for efficient purification of textile printing and dyeing waste water.
For Other Fields
In the field of mining and coal washing, using PAM as flocculant can promote the sedimentation of solid in the water recovered by mining and coal washing , clarify the water, and at the same time, recover useful solid particles to avoid environmental pollution. In the sugar industry, it can accelerate the subsidence of fine particles in sugarcane juice. promote filtration and improve the clarity of filtrate; in the aquaculture industry, it can improve water quality, increase the light transmission performance in water, thereby improving the photosynthesis of water; in the pharmaceutical industry, it can be used as a flocculant for separating antimycin, used as an adhesive for tablets and as a process water clarifying; in the construction industry, it can be used as thickening and dispersing for coating, coolant for sawing stone plate and ceramic binder.
The use of polyacrylamide should follow the following principles
1. Granular polyacrylamide flocculant cannot be added directly to sewage. It must be dissolved in water before use and treated with its aqueous solution.
2. The water to dissolve the granular polymer should be clean (e.g. tap water), not sewage. Room temperature water can be used, generally do not need to be heated. When the water temperature is lower than 5 ° C, the dissolution is very slow. The water temperature increases the dissolution rate, but above 40 °C, the polymer will accelerate degradation and affect the use effect. Generally, tap water is suitable for preparing polymer solutions.Strong acid, strong base, high salt water is not suitable for preparation.
3. The concentration of polymer solution is recommended to be 0.1% -- 0.3%, that is, 1g -- 3g polymer powder is added to 1 liter of water.
